Florida Outreach Efforts
 
Outreach and education are key to the adoption of HIE.  The Florida Health Information Exchange (Florida HIE) offers two separate services that allow for the secure exchange of patient health information in electronic format: Patient Look-Up and Delivery (PLU) and Direct Secure Messaging (DSM).  Both services allow for the transmission and exchange of protected health information. As part of our evaluation we explore outreach efforts along three specific types of health information:
  1. Labs
  2. Prescriptions (via e-prescribing)
  3. Clinical Summaries

The evaluation team is tracking and assessing the appropriateness and success of the Florida HIE's outreach efforts by:

  1. Participating in the outreach planning meetings
  2. Reviewing outreach documents
